“For this 1,300-SqFt townhouse in the Meatpacking District, our friends at de-spec combined a third-floor studio with a duplex below to create a triplex. In light of that the structure is only 12′ wide, a goal of the team was to improve air quality within and maximize light…”

“…When a recent client came to us with a kitchen remodel and didn't want white we were a bit surprised (because really who doesn't like white, right?!), but of course we knew exactly how to help them get an updated look. A kitchen needn't be white to be beautiful and timeless. Here are some of our favorite non-white kitchens some of which were inspiration for this remodel.”

“This is the project that every architect dreams of (or should, at least). With designers as clients, visually striking product, and close involvement from the start, Tom Shea and Farnaz Mansuri of De-Spec were able to develop a concept for Chilewich from the ground up.”
“ The design for this dental care facility is centered on the
idea that health care, well-being, and relaxation can be
integrated through design. The design uses curved forms to
soften the shadows and diffuse light in order to enable the
healthy feel of rooms filled with light. “

“Tom Shea, lead designer at de-spec in New York, has transformed a dark, 1,400 square-foot basement in the West Village into a light-filled award-winner. “It was an apartment with sleeping areas but it didn’t have an enclosed bedroom,” he says of the below-grade space at the corner of Washington and Perry. “It was really cold, damp, dark, and raw-feeling.” He based all his decisions on making it as bright and airy as possible.”

“Carefully curated art sets the tone and provides layering in this Greenwich home “
AUTHOR: Mindy Pantiel
“ The first thing you see when you enter this Greenwich residence is a smiling furry creature perched on a pedestal, and a neon art piece stating, “Please do not touch the artwork.” Tall order for a family with three kids, one of whom routinely attempts to play hockey in the house, but totally tongue in cheek for homeowner/art dealer Josephine Schlank, who believes artwork should be accessible and everywhere.”
